    difficulty welded by other welding processes, are for instance:
    • steel with carbon amount up to 0,6 % and high carbon
      equivalents
    • austenitic stainless steels
    • duplex and super duplex steels
    • copper and copper alloys
    • nickel based alloys
    • aluminium and aluminium alloys
    • magnesium alloys
    • titan and titanium alloys
    • special materials: silver, platinum, zirconium, niobium,
      tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum
  • For EB welding suitable material combinations are for example:
    • copper - steel
    • molybdenum - steel  
    • platinum - steel
    • platinum - titanium
    • silver - copper
    • silver - aluminium
  • Special suitable for electron beam welding are materials with
    following properties:
    • high heat conduction
      (aluminium, silver, copper, tungsten, molybdenum)
    • high affinity to oxygen
      (magnesium, niobium, tantalum, zirconium, titanium)
    • high melt temperature and high melt energy
      (niobium, tantalum, tungsten,  molybdenum)
